Become part of our family!

All that we are, all that we do is because of YOU. 26 Letters was built by amazing volunteers. Join us and help us go further.

You can volunteer with us in Beirut or from afar. Contact us and find out the different volunteering opportunities that we offer.

Would you like to get to know a new culture while having a life-changing experience? If that sounds like something you would love to do, then 26 Letters is your place.

How can you volunteer with us in Beirut as an educator? Just contact us. After the first meeting you’ll receive a one-day training and start your volunteering.

If you are in Beirut and feel like you want to do more, you can also volunteer in one of our departments while volunteering as an educator. Check the video below!

What about those of you who cannot travel at the moment? Do you still want to form part of this family? Then, this is your place too!

Volunteer with us from your cosy couch. How? Get in touch with us. We will send you a list of our departments and our current needs. Once you have decided on a department we will get down to work.

Department members collaborate in groups. Within these groups weekly or monthly tasks are assigned, depending on your availability. Find more information here.

Frequently asked questions:

Do we offer internships and work placements?

Yes! We encourage hands-on experiences not only for our students but also for our volunteers. If you are interested in doing an internship or completing your practicums with us, contact us!

Do we have a minimum volunteering period?

We do. Educators must volunteer for at least 6 weeks. This way we ensure the students have some sort of teachers continuity. It also allows educators to truly connect with their students.

How frequently should I volunteer?

Our educators teach a minimum of twice a week in one of our shifts. Every shift is two hours. During the first meeting, volunteers will discuss and agree on their availability and volunteering hours per week with their department. Tasks and responsibilities are distributed depending on this.

Do we cover travel expenses?

We are a small NGO which means that our budget is also small. We do not cover any accommodation or travel expenses. Volunteers must cover all their travel-related expenses. We do provide guidance when trying to find a place to stay.

Do I need to have a really good English level to teach?

Not really. We have children with all levels and ages. By experience, students who are just learning how to read learn faster when having a teacher with a limited English level. Students just starting to learn English get discouraged when not understanding their teacher. A simple and clear English instigates them to continue learning the language.

Do I need to speak Arabic to teach?

Definitely not! The only way to learn a language is by only speaking that language. In fact, speaking Arabic is forbidden in our classes.

Can I volunteer in one of the departments and as an educator?

Yes! You can get involved as much as you like.
